CASA COVRE

Furnishing an apartment in Milan

A few steps from the centre of Milan lies the 1950s-era house-studio belonging to a young couple. It has been completely renovated, with a tiny private garden creating a nest protected from the busy life beyond the boundary wall.

Project By Arch. Marina Bani

House-studio from the early 1950s

In the small but delightful garden we have the Vintage armchairs and the Laki coffee tables, which with their light structure can easily migrate between inside and outside the home. The living room continues to be suggestive of the 1950s with the Navona sofa and the Ischia coffee and the couple’s passion for the lines and design inspired by that extraordinarily creative period of Milanese life. The large and completely renovated bathroom, maintains the large proportions of the rooms of that time, which characterise the structure of the house. To restore proportion to the environment, a custom-designed leather frame was added, attached to which are stretched leather strings that create a striking and impressive screen by filtering the light in the room. In the sleeping area, the large Cortina wardrobe takes up the entire dressing area, while in the next room we have the Elba bed. Part of the wardrobe, which has embossed ribbed panelling with its tops and shelves in Italian blonde walnut, is used as a desk whilst another module is reserved for the owners’ passion for skiing.
